We have a small team, focussed on proving a specialist Huntington's clinic, coordinating pharmaceutical trials, and conducting novel scientific research.
Every two months, we also run a dedicated HD clinic for Canterbury patients. This clinic offers the combined expertise of psychiatrist Assoc. Prof. Sandy McLeod, geneticist Dr Caroline Lintott, neurologist Prof. Anderson and community support Maggie Jury from Rehab People and Marnie McIvor from Lifelinks. The first appointment requires a GP or specialist referral. Any further appointment is made on a ‘as needs’ basis by anyone from the team (see Maggie Jury's contact details below. For Prof. Anderson, please call 03 3786078).
Rehab People : Maggie Jury is the clinical coordinator for people living with HD in the community. Her role is critical to ensure that patients stay healthy and independent as long as possible. She offers practical help and invaluable support to patients and families by providing timely access to support agencies, allied health professionals and the HD combined clinic. She has successfully lobbied to ensure heavily reduced cost to dental health. Maggie also provides patients help to design their Advanced Care Plan and to access reduced rate/free lawyer time to set up Enduring power of Attorney.
